Not only studying
Centro di Lingua e Cultura Italiana il faro was born not only from the intense love we feel for our language and culture, but also from the strong attachment we have to our beautiful region of Veneto
A tour of Veneto is like a tour of history, from antiquity to modern times. Its highly poetic atmosphere, thoroughly breathtaking landscapes, radiant seaside, and picturesque towns and cities will inspire any visitor to fall in love with the culture and language.
For this reason we have decided to offer not only language courses but also a series of excursions in the countryside to discover the many hidden picturesque sites of the Veneto region, generally neglected for more touristy destinations. These excursions aim to reveal the Veneto in many different aspects: its culture, its landscape, and also its wines and foods.
Excursions Boat trips Bicycle tours
Excursions: Veneto Orientale and Marca Trevigiana
Caorle is situated in the most eastern part of Veneto, in what is now generally called Veneto Orientale, an area naturally limited by the Livenza River on the west, the Tagliamento River on the east and the Adriatic Sea on the south. Our excursions touch some of the most relevant spots of the area, such as:
Portogruaro: a medieval city, considered the historical capital of the area. Its favorable geographical position on the Lemene River made it for centuries a prosperous town as it is still visible in its numerous medieval and renaissance palaces.
Fossalta di Portogruaro: famous as the place of childhood of the well known Italian writer from the 19th century Ippolito Nievo (author of Le confessioni di un italiano); in this town there are also the centuries-old oak (since 1960 a national monument) and the forest of Alvisopoli, natural oasis of the WWF, populated by woodpeckers, herons, and bats.
Concordia Sagittaria, a prosperous Roman colony and later a vital early-Christian community, is today an extremely important archaeological area.
Boat trips Among its excursions, Centro IL FARO offers fabulous boat trips in the following destinations:
The Valleys of Caorle "The world which was of Ernest Hemingway". The Nobel Prize writer was in fact a frequent visitor to this area in the 1930s and later. The memory of this writer-hunter is still alive in the little village of Falconera, the actual gate to this untouched natural paradise. The emotions that Hemingway drew from these places became immortal in the pages of his novel Across the river and into the trees (1948).
Venice Given the strong relationship between Venice and Caorle, easily visible in the similar architecture and the names of streets and squares, Centro IL FARO offers trips to the unique city of the Serenissima. Nonetheless, we not only visit the most famous parts of the city, we also discover the most intimate and remote areas, as we follow the steps of a mysterious Venetian family saga.
Murano The lagoon island is worldwide famous for its glassmaking. Worth a visit are the many glassworks still operating, and the Museo Vetrario, or Glass Museum, located in the Palazzo Giustinian near the island's centre. The Church of Santa Maria e San Donato is deceptively simple in outward appearance, but hides inside a richly decorated interior with a marble-and-mosaic floor that was laid in 1140.
Burano Burano is one of the greater centers of the lagoon of Venice, with its 7,000 inhabitants, a flourishing activity of fishing, lace making and the characteristic polychromatic houses.
Torcello In this uninhabited island it is exceptionally beautifully to still find the monumental complex of Santa Maria Assunta and of Santa Fosca. Inside the Dome, the marvelous mosaic of the “Final Judgment” dating from the XII century is comparable only to the one in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Venice.
Bicycle Tours Centro IL FARO has organized for the most dynamic students bicycle trips in the vicinity of the town to visit some interesting locations such as: Ca’ Corniani and San Gaetano, two villages where the old traditions of rural life are still alive. Brussa, one of the most picturesque sites in the High Adriatic shoreline; a wide semi-desert area on the east side of the Caorle, ideal for bird-watching. Valle Vecchia, another amazing natural reserve, an unspoiled rural setting where visitors can feel like they have stepped back to a gentler, quieter time.
The calendar of excursions and the corresponding prices are available at the school, at the beginning of the courses.
